First a little bit of history...
I’ve been introduced into photography by my grandfather who worked at the Agfa-Gevaert factory in Mortsel all his life. He learned me how to develop black & white pictures in the darkroom when I was still a kid.
Our equipment back then was very primitive but charming after all. We stitched up the windows with black plastic foil & used film, chemicals & grated barite paper that was more than 40 years out of date. We didn’t have light-meters, timers or anything, but we were able to make decent pics that looked like they were made 50 years before.
In the years after that I participated in a few photo-contests with variable success. I won the second prize in a contest at the ‘Muntschouburg’ in Bruxelles, one of my photographs was selected for a exhibition of the best photographs of the contest: “Zomer van Antwerpen” …
Although I bought my first (analog) Canon SLR camera in 1993 there has been a inactivity-gap of about 10 years.
My interest in photography was renewed when I started organising club-parties with some friends. Next to playing music I was shooting the pictures.
Initially they were quite poor, but my technique & material gradually improved to become on of my specialities at present.
